Hiroshima and Nagasaki Commemorations in New Mexico and Worldwide

This month marks the 80th year since the U.S. government dropped atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, Japan. The nuclear-industrial complex that was initiated to create these weapons of mass destruction started before 1945 and continues into the present day with devastating effects on our environment and our peoples.

From Japan to the Tewa homelands, many peoples share the legacy of survival, resilience, and resistance to nuclear violence. We’ve compiled this list of some of the many commemorations that will take place this week, as collectively we renew our commitment to nourish a Culture of Peace.
