Woman Birthing Person as Earth
JOIN US THE FIRST THREE MONDAYS OF JUNE!
TWU’s Reproductive Justice Program invites you to the childbirth classes presented by the Reproductive Sanctuary, a visionary model for the reproductive healthcare that was created in response to the maternal health crisis which disproportionately affects Black and Indigenous communities where preventable maternal morbidity and mortality persists.
This free class, open to all parents, will be lead by matriarchs Monica Larrea de Arellano, Stephanie Murillo, and Angelique Steadman. Monica is a Certified Professional Midwife living in the Rio Grande Valley of Española, NM. She provides midwifery care and midwifery education throughout Northern and Central New Mexico. Monica is committed to the rematriation of midwifery and the reclamation of ancestral practices as a means of restoring balance to all life. Stephanie is a midwife, educator, and fierce advocate for reproductive justice. For 7 years, she has served her community with unwavering dedication, supporting growing families. She has mentored future midwives through Parteria Xantico and previous employments. Angelique is a graduated student midwife apprentice, co-founder and matriarch of The Reproductive Sanctuary, the finance director at the National College of Midwifery and a MEAC board member.
We will be sharing teachings around three different components of care:
- Prenatal: awakening our original instructions
- Labor: embracing our power and tending the fire
- Postpartum: returning from the stars
Food will be provided
Looking forward to seeing you!
