PLANT ALLIES TO PREPARE FOR AND NAVIGATE MENOPAUSE
Our Reproductive Justice Program Parent Circles are open to all parents in the Española Valley, and are free of charge.
Join us for our May Parent Circle! Learn how to prepare to manage the transition of menopause by addressing its various symptoms, from mild to debilitating, with plant allies.
Please note that this circle is also being offered the previous day, Thursday, May 30, to accommodate schedules of busy parents. Each session (on Thursday and Friday) will provide valuable information that can be beneficial whether attended separately or together. You are welcome to come for just one, or both.
Host bio:
Marija is a freelance writer, herbalist, and former cancer and infectious disease researcher with a PhD in Microbiology from the University of Washington School of Medicine. Since 2009, she has dedicated herself to connecting people with the natural world through her diverse engagements, including writing, forays, classes, workshops, and one-on-one teaching. Transitioning from a scientific career, Marija delved into the medicinal properties and lifecycles of plants and mushrooms, learning through direct engagement with nature in a variety of settings, extensive reading, and participation in herbal conferences. She specializes in women’s health, employing holistic approaches to support women from puberty through menopause.
Beyond her grandmother, Della, who harvested mushrooms, elderberries, and dandelions, Marija wasn’t raised within an herbal tradition. Her love of plants started in her mother’s garden, and also developed among the trees, shrubs, and other plants that were childhood allies when she’d escape from at-home violence.
