Shifting the Story: Young Parenthood and Reproductive Justice

This free workshop, open to all community members, explores how reproductive justice shapes pregnancy and parenting for young people. We’ll consider the impact of social systems, the importance of autonomy and informed decision-making, the building of respectful support networks, and practical strategies for offering nonjudgmental, justice-centered support.

This workshop is facilitated by Esperanza Dodge, a proud New Mexican Hispanic. Being a mother has fueled her passion to work hard for justice for all families, including families living through addiction and incarceration. She also serves as an active member in local and national breastfeeding coalitions in an effort to make breastfeeding advocacy more inclusive of families of color, LGBTQ families, young parents and low-income families. Esperanza enjoys offering personalized, culturally-relevant breastfeeding and postpartum support to new mamas and parents. Esperanza holds a bachelor’s degree in sociology and a master’s in bilingual/bicultural social work.
